Mindfulness Training for Smoking Cessation

For Patients For Researchers

Condition: Smoking Cessation

What is the purpose of this trial?

Purpose of study is to compare 2 smoking cessation treatments that teach skills to help participants quit smoking cigarettes.

Participate in twice weekly groups for 6 weeks that teach smoking cessation training. The groups focus on learning techniques to deal with stressors and triggers.

Dates: January 2009 - January 2014

Who can participate?

Ages Eligible: 18 Years - 55 Years
Gender Eligible: Both

Inclusion:

  • Smoke at least 10 cigarettes daily
  • Fewer than 3 months of smoking abstinence in the past year
  • Motivated to stop smoking cigarettes

Exclusion:

  • Current use of psychoactive medications
  • Use of an investigational drug within 30 days
  • Presence of ferromagnetic objects deemed to put individuals at risk during MRI procedures
